Position Title
Graduate Student
Carlos Anthony Natividad is a pursuing a Master's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He enjoys exploring various topics such as aircraft design, optimization, and numerical methods. Carlos is the 2022-2023 Aerodynamics Lead of the Advanced Modeling and Aeronautics Team (AMAT) at UC Davis and has recently competed in the AIAA Design/Build/Fly competition. His current focus as alumnus is to develop aerodynamic models for optimization, transfer the knowledge and skills gained in the design process to new members, and to continue to provide guidance as a graduate student. Carlos interned at NASA Ames in 2023 to learn about flight dynamics simulations, write a Flight Mechanics 101 guide, and to develop best practices. This work will help upper division undergraduate students and incoming graduate students to better understand the process and intricacies of trajectory simulation. His research in DAAL focuses on studying the physics of unsteady low Reynolds aerodynamics and leveraging optimization tools for design in this flight regime. In his free time, he enjoys long distance running and cooking.
